Religious painting of Jesus on Calvary VIII
The painting, of great contrasts and dramatic charge, belongs to the collection Golgotha, The Great Drama of this Humanity, in a small format, where one of the events recorded by The Passion of Christ is reflected: Jesus of Nazareth in his last breath, which, although it appears in a decontextualized neutral background, is represented on the site where his crucifixion took place; Mount Calvary, near the outside of the walls of Jerusalem. His crown of thorns, worn by Roman soldiers for their humiliation and physical pain, is resolved by loose brush strokes. We see the blood on his face fall down his cheeks due to his wounds after the flogging, while our Lord's gaze goes to heaven in search of God the Father.
