Religious portrait of Our Lady of Lourdes
Painting of the Catholic dedication of Our Lady of Lourdes referring to the apparitions of the French shepherd and mystic Bernadette Soubirous in 1858, canonized by the Catholic Church in 1933. It was Pope Pius IX who in 1862, seventeen years after the death of the religious, would approve the veneration of the Virgin Mary, patron saint of the sick, in the French commune of Lourdes.
