Religious Painting of the Mother of God of the Passion
This Marian dedication painting is an interpretation of the original image of the icon from Crete and venerated in Rome, where, on a dark background, Our Mother Mary is represented in a red robe and navy blue cloak, holding in her arms the Baby Jesus, in green and gold clothing, who grabs his hands seeking his protection. The Child looks up and to his left at two angels who show him the instruments of the Passion. The painting, in strong and contrasting colors, symbolizes the divine motherhood of Our Blessed Virgin who looks directly at the viewer taking care of her son from conception until his death.
