Religious painting of the Portuguese preacher, theologian and priest of the Franciscan Ordervenerated as a saint and canonized in 1946 as Church doctor by Pope Pius XII under the title of "Evangelical Doctor". He is represented dressed in the brown fransican habit with the characteristic of the tonsure; the crown-shaped haircut to symbolize his consecration to God and his dedication to the clergy. He became the second saint who was canonized the fastest after the religious domicile and priest Pedro de Verona (Saint Peter Martyr). His popularity was made remarkable through his works and his words, reaching many people. His representation is frequent holding in arms the Baby Jesus due to the appearance he had while he was still a friar.
