Description
Religious painting of Juan de Yepes Álvarez
Pictorial portrait of the religious and great mystical poet of the Spanish Renaissance, first identified as a friar under the name of Juan de San Matías. He was co-founder of the Order of the Barefoot Carmelites next to santa Teresa of Jesus, born thanks to the reform they made of the Order of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Both are considered by other poets as an influence, even more, as the pinnacle of experimental Christian Spanish mysticism, where two fundamental perspectives for the development of their work are mixed: philosophy with religious.
